Abstract EN

The roles and stances of the French court in the Catholic church’s issues were different, and led, in one way or another, to deepen gaps of the religious disputes, and there’s no place for the church among its followers.

The transfer of papacy to Avignon had led to weakening the spiritual impact of the church and papacy.

It was under criticism by fanatic Christians such as senior clergymen and bishops as they had lost their previous privileges and powers versus wide powers granted to Avignon Cardinals.

This caused eruption of many internal revolutions and domestic wars among western European States.

Such deeds were mainly caused French kings.The study is put in an introduction, three sections, a conclusion and a list of references.

The first section has dealt with the impact of the French direct intervention in selecting a representative of Christianity, and continuing the doctrine split (1315-1334).

The second section has shed light upon sacredness of Pope Benedict XII and an increase French religious oppression (1335 – 1340), while the third section has made a reference to the stance of Charles V against fanaticism of Avignon of the Popes.
