Abstract EN

The current research aims at identifying the level of cognitive failure of the preparatory stage students (2017-2018) and identifying the differences according to the gender variable, stage and academic specialization.

the problem of the study was determined by the level of cognitive failure in preparatory stage students.

the researcher has used the analytical descriptive proceure for being suitable for the research's nature.

a random class sample has been selected from prepeortroy schools in nineveh governerate.

the exact sample of the application was (1500) students from the preparatory stage.

in order to achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher also has prepared a measure of cognitive failure.

the researcher also has found the psychometeic characteristics of the scale with a validity rate (80%) and extracting reliability coefficient where it was (0.83) by cronbach's alpha and by re-testing it was (0.81).

the study in which the researcher used the statistical package (spss) to understand and analyze obtained the following results: students in preparatory stage are characterized by a high level of cognitive failure.

there are no statistically significant differences for the sex variable (male and female) there are no statistically significant differences for the variable of academic specialization in general (literary science) also, the researcher a number of recommendations: 1- ministry of education has to increase care about courses and forums which relate to teaching cadres (male and female teachers) so as to guide them to the importance of developing mental capabilities and making activities and programs go with what is imposed by the modern technology which works on attracting student's attention and increasing their concentration through lesson explanation.

2- guiding research and development directorate in ministry of education to make studies and researches to know the causes of cognitive failurefor the students in general.

the researcher has suggested a number of suggestions: 1- making a study about the demographic changes which haven't been studied like: (protecting one parents, protecting physically handicapped through war, family economic level).

2-making a study to know the reasons behind cognitive failure form teachers and education guides viewpoint.
