Public services, particularly fuel services, are of the crucial indicators that reflect the degree of advancement in a society and the level of living status of the population.

Hence, the fuel stations within the geographical area of Al-Najaf Grand city was chosen as a the subject of the research due to the increase in the number of vehicles with considerable variety in functional activities of its urban area, particularly after 2003 in addition to the services they provide to the population in the mentioned city represented by facilitating transportation process from one place to the other.

The research problem is represented by recognizing the spatial convenience of fuel stations distribution in Al-Najaf Grand city with the conditions and local criteria; the study aims to recognize the spatial distribution of the fuel stations in Al-Najaf Grand city as an attempt to give an image for their status that may help the decision makers in putting the right and sound planning and may contribute in achieving balance for the fuel stations services so as to serve all the society individual.

In order to reveal the degree of convenience of fuel stations' locations in accordance with the planning basis and criteria and the requirements of the location providing these services.

The study adopted the quantitative method represented by spatial patterns analysis and the nearest location and others to process and analyzing data that were collected by field work.

The most important conclusions are:- - Most of the fuel stations in the study area were established without prior planning or applying the local planning criteria and the environment determinants.

According to the nearest location theory, the current distribution of fuel stations is a completely random one.

The most important recommendations of the research are: - It is very crucial to adopt planning standards and specific spatial determinants and apply them to all public services in the city (specially fuel services stations) in a way that is compatible with the size and population density as well as the available activities in the city to improve the current status of the stations in the study area and distribute them in a way that is suitable to the economic developments currently taking place in the city.
