Abstract EN

Agriculture is considered as a main occupation for a large number of people in the marshes.

Such occupations go back to the residence of primitive tribes of Sumerians and their practice of primitive agriculture.

They exploited the margins and banks of the marshes and their isles for the purpose of cropping where these places were suitable for residence and cultivation.

There have been found many archeological evidence that affirmed the human practice of cultivation in addition to the economic activities that were pertained to the environment of those marshes since their arrival.

Thus the current work focuses on studying the agricultural patterns in these marshes (Basra, Dhi Qar, and Missan) where these marshes are regarded as main regions that have been known for their agricultural prospects of various crops.

These activities were aided by the abundance of water, soil type, and climate that help produce different species of crops that have shaped a perfect type of soil for implanting cereals and palm trees during summer and winter.
