Abstract EN
The objective of this paper is to estimate the relationship between the shadow economy and GDP for the case of Algeria using an Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) cointegration approach for the period 1995-2016.
We find that the shadow economy has a positive effect on GDp.
1% increase in shadow economy increase the GDP by about 0.4 % in the short-run and about 0.8 % in the long-run.
