This article aims to demonstrate the potential effects of the Central Bank's trends towards the implementation of some of the Basel 3 agreements on the soundness of the Algerian banking sector during the period 2009-2016, before and after the issued of reglement 14-01.
It has been found that these trends have positive effects on certain financial indicators of the banks such as regulatory capital ratios and Tier 1 core and z-score index, whereas that some indicators have been negatively affected such as return on equity.
Generally, the value of these indicators stay exceed national and international standards even in the period of oil shock by the end of 2014, promting the application of these standards due to the soundness of the Algerian banking sector's against external economic and financial shocks.
