Abstract EN

This article attempts to highlight the issue of Moro Muslims and their demands for independence and peace.

Over the last five decades, tensions and conflicts have spread over the southern Philippine *Island* of Mindanao, mainly in the Muslim-majority Moro region.

Although Moro Muslims are considered the minority in terms of number, their strong presence and demands are rooted in the history of Islam in the region for more than a thousand years.

The recent peace process culminated in a permanent agreement that would satisfy both Muslims and the Filipino people, while it is expected that this process will bring about comprehensive peace without any obstacles.
