Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the relationship between FDI and environmental sustainability levels in Brazil, expressed in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

This was done by identifying the levels of Environmental Sustainability in Brazil; and examining the economic causes behind Brazilian environmental problems.

Among these reasons there is the economic capacity to exploit available resources, as well as FDI flows, which present a significant proportion of global flows and GDP.

The sectoral distribution of inward FDI to Brazil showed many polluting and high-emission sectors; and in light of the volume of inflows into Brazil and these polluting sectors, these flows are real and direct threat to environmental sustainability.
