Abstract EN

The aim of this study is to identify the extent to which Yemeni university students use social networking sites, as well as to understand the motives of this use and to identify the patterns and expectations/satisfactions thereof.

This study is included in descriptive studies, using Media Survey method on a vertical sample of 177 terms, during the first semester of the academic year 2018-2019.

The study concluded with a set of results, the most prominent of which is the disparity in the use of the respondents of the WhatsApp and Facebook, where 80.8% of the respondents use WhatsApp and Facebook in their homes while the use of the respondents of WhatsApp and Facebook via the cellular device, came as a majority thereof.

Most respondents do surf WhatsApp and Facebook with their real names, whereas communication with friends, came at the forefront of their respective motives at a rate of 59.3%.
