الملخص EN

The aim of the study is to provide in the light of the national strategy for the transition towards the knowledge economy by identifying the developmental requirements and analyzing the statistical differences around them according to some variables such as (academic grade, years of service and duration of participation in knowledge support program).

The researcher used the descriptive approach.

The study community consisted of faculty members at Umm Al-Qura University.

A sample of the experts participating in the programs in support of knowledge was collected and their number reached (48) experts to explore their views on the most important requirements for the development of academic leadership to cope with the shift towards the knowledge economy.

The study was based on the questionnaire as a tool for collecting information.

It was designed according to the questions and objectives of the study.

One of the most important results was that the most important requirements for the development of administrative competency of leaders was the field of knowledge creation, with an average of (4.37) and a very high degree of importance.

The most important requirements for the development of the professional competence of the leaders was the field of efficiency of scientific research, where the average of its paragraphs (4.18) and offset so high importance.

There were no differences in the responses of the sample members on the requirements for developing managerial competency according to the variables (academic rank, years of service, duration of participation in knowledge support programs).

And the absence of differences in the responses of the sample members on the requirements of professional development according to variables (years of service, duration of participation in knowledge support programs), and there were differences in the responses of the sample members on the requirements of developing professional competence according to the variable (academic level) academy The study recommended that the proposed training program should be adopted, reviewed, evaluated and developed by experts of educational administration and planning.

The Ministry of Education should provide an integrated infrastructure for the training program and provide supporting requirements that will help achieve its developmental dimensions in order to raise the administrative and professional efficiency of academic leaders.

Enhancing the role of academic leaders in the development of managerial competence through the development of skills of knowledge creation due to the emergence of the importance of the first.

And taking care of the development of the efficiency of scientific research as the most important indicators of professional competence of academic leaders and support its important role in economic and social development.
