Abstract EN

The study aims at finding out the direction of the relationship between the budget deficit and trade balance in Algeria during the period 19902016.

Using the long-term causality developed by Toda-Yamamoto.

The research found a causal relationship in one direction from the budget deficit to the trade balance, which corresponds to the Keynesian view.

The research also concluded that there is no causal effect from the trade balance to the budget deficit.
