For several years, there has been a multiplication of actions for the recognition and protection of environmental refugees.

This concept raises questions.

Does it not lead to serious confusion with existing international law? The question of the « status of ecological refugees” arises both to ensure their survival and to avoid future conflicts.

In this article, the different actions of promotion of the concept will be traced before studying the (weak) potentialities of the current legal tools to offer protection to these refugees.

Finally, ends with proposals for protections for "environmental refugees".
