Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the competitive forces assessment of Syrian private companies operating in the food industry in Jordan according to the Porter model.

The study population consists of all employees in the top and middle management.

A questionnaire consisted of (26) items were designed to measure the variables of the questionnaire.

The study population consisted of (10) Syrian companies, and (144) questionnaires were distributed to members of the study, only (128) questionnaires were only suitable for analyses.

Statistical methods such as arithmetic mean, standard deviations, one-sample- t –tests, and one way ANOVA, were used to analyze the variable of the study.

The results of the study indicate that there is a high level application of Porter model dimensions, (threat of new entrants, threat of alternative products, bargaining power of buyers, bargaining power of suppliers, competition among producers within industry) in Syrian private companies operating in the food industry in Jordan.

And there are no statistically significant differences according to the demographic variables (gender, age, academic qualification, experience, and job title).

The study recommended that managers and decision makers In Syrian private companies must enhance the dimensions associated with the Porter model.

And finding good communication and communication means through which buyers, competitors and suppliers interact to strengthen the strengths of the company.
