The aim of the research is to verify the role of the green economy in achieving sustainable development in light of the objectives set by the united nations environment program.

of increasing economic growth, reducing the problem of poverty and depleting natural resources and the overall ecosystem.

to achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive analytical method was used to study the reality of the trend towards the green economy in Algeria and the role played by the green economy in development and in the fight against poverty.

the quantitative approach was used to analyze and explain the effect of the green economy on economic growth in the 2017 academic year.

the study concluded that the economic growth measured by GDP per capita was a positive correlation between the two countries.

the relationship of economic growth to leadership and climate change where the relationship was inverse.
