Abstract EN

The study is concerned with the renewal of tafsīr to the meaning of giving a new outlook on the qur’anic text so as to conform to the exigencies of the contemporary age and its development.

it presents examples of a mufassir who lived in the 14th century ah and was an eyewitness to a number of political events and scientific and technical developments.

he turned the holy qur’an into a starting point for the ummah’s renaissance, and a treatment for its problems.

the study is divided into a number of chapters; the first dealing with matters of i’tiqād, and that the correct‘aqīdah results in upright actions.

the second chapter is concerned with vital questions related to the ummah and society, and that leaving the holy qur’an and acting upon it is one of the reasons of the backwardness and decline of the ummah.

the third chapter deals with tafsīr on the basis of scientific theories, and that these theories are not suitable for qur’anic exegesis as long as they have not been established as scientific facts.

the fourth chapter concludes with an outlook on thematic exegesis of the holy qur’an and its importance in offering a comprehensive point of view on any case that is subject to study.
