The validity of the religious principle, from William James perspective,is not related to its sacred or ideal aspect, but rather to its utility in meeting the material needs.

In fact, if the theological ideas could ensure security and peace, in the same way that could be done by the idea of God, there would be no reason, according to him to flee from the reality.

The pragmatism affirms that the underestimation of a useful and a profitable idea does notpractically and reallymake sense.

On the basis of this principle, James' pragmatism does not questioning about God identity and his attributes, in order to believe in himor not, but instead it merely measures and calculates the concrete and tangible consequences of believing in divinity.

In sum, this doctrine makes the field of research in theology fairly broad.
