This research aims to identify the current and future role of the agricultural cooperative societies in the contractual agriculture in Kafr El-Sheikh governorate, the relative importance of each role played by the agricultural cooperative association in the contractual agriculture, and identify the problems that hinder the agricultural cooperative society from doing its role in the contractual agriculture and the proposals of the respondents to meet them.

These objectives were selected by a random sample of 124 agricultural cooperatives representing 50% of the total associations distributed to the ten constituent centers of the governorate according to the ratio of each center in the comprehensive research.

Using statistical questionnaire in January and February 2017, some statistical methods were used in the analysis of data: Numerical duplicates, percentages, weighted average.

The main findings of the study can be summarized as follows: The agricultural cooperative has 12 roles in contractual agriculture, but its role varies from one to the other.

There are six roles played by more than three quarters of the societies: the definition of farmers for each item of the contract, the disadvantages of contractual agriculture, Half of the collection These include the provision of extension services to the contracted farmers, the definition of farmers on the benefits of contractual agriculture, the assistance of contracted farmers in obtaining financing services, and the three roles that are not carried out by about two-thirds of the studied crops: The second most important role was the definition of farmers in each of the items of the contract with a medium degree of (2.08) degrees.

The least important was the definition of the farmers at the appropriate time to contract with a medium capacity (0.60 degrees) , 3- The results showed that the respondents believe that the society should play twenty-one roles in the future to activate contractual agriculture.

The most important roles were agreed upon by more than nine tenths of respondents, namely providing and supporting pesticides (97.58%).

The results showed that there are fourteen problems that hinder the agricultural association from performing its role in contractual agriculture, the most important of which is the poor coordination between the association and the contracting parties (100%), the lack of technical and financial support By the government (91.3%).

The results indicated that there are seventeen proposals that help the society overcome the problems that hinder it from performing its role.

The most important of these was the training of a group of engineers, including the directors of the associations (91.12%), increasing the powers of the director (87.95%), giving the society the freedom to dispose of the various contracts (83.87%) and working to provide the production requirements (82.26%).
