The study highlighting the Umayyad intelligence during the caliphate Muawiya bin Abi Sufyan, which represents the third phase of the development of Islamic intelligence, through the foundations on which it was based.

Its section: internal intelligence to monitor state governors and leaders, citizens news and economic conditios.

The foreign intelligence to fight the Byzatine espionage.

The study focused on one of the most importan branches of internal intelligence: the branche of Al-Madinah, which included a group of official agents, such as: governor and the postman and the spy of the caliph, and unceremonious agents, such as: delegations and snitching.

This branch has undertaken several tasks most notably the control of the governors, knowing the conditions of the citizens and the control of Bani Hashim.

The Umayyad intelligence in Al-Madinah achieved several successes, the most important of which was the thwarting of attempts to revolutionize the caliphate in Damascus.
