Abstract EN

Due to the inability of the French army during the World War two, especially in front of the German machine; France referred to Algeria to equip and strengthen its army.

France recruited the largest possible number of young people; settlers confirmed that these young Algerians were used as shield to protect them and assure their interests.

They were placed in the first lines of the battle.

In additions, France forced many people to migrate inreplacement of mines and factories workers involved in the army.

France also exploited all Algerian resources in the armed conflict.

She transferred mush of the grain to cover the deficit.

Moreover, to offset the financial shortages duo to the increase in expenses, the occupation authorities imposed taxes on food products such as dates, figs and cereal.

These unfair procedures resulted in a deplorable situation of disease and starvation.
