One of the most important historical stations that Algeria experienced during the colonial period was the economic station where the suffering of the Algerian people prevailed, which coincided with the global economic crisis of 1920, and the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939, as most cities witnessed Algeria, including the city of Tlemcen, is a state of hunger, poverty and famine that has hit the majority of the population, which has led to a state of unrest, the latter of which was met by the colonial administration with an unfair reaction that deprived the people of Tlemcen of their most basic rights - food - and imposed a great stranglehold on them in The monopoly of food, forcing the population to follow the system of dependence on the French colonizer or to resort to the acquisition of their food from the junkof the land.
