Abstract EN

The current study aimed at portraying the administrative roles of the secondary school teachers from the viewpoints of the school mangers in Riyadh city.

The study adopted the descriptive method and made use a questionnaire for collecting data.

The study participants were the governmental and national secondary school managers in Riyadh (totaling 275).

The questionnaire was delivered to all the study participants and only 238 (86.5%) school managers returned the questionnaire.

The results of the study revealed that the level of performing the administrative roles in relation to the planning was average; the level of performing the administrative roles in relation to the organizing was average; the level of performing the administrative roles in relation to the implementation (decision making) was high; the level of performing the administrative roles in relation to the assessment was average; and finally the level of performing the administrative roles in general in Riyadh city was average.

With this in mind, the study recommended holding training courses and workshops for the secondary stage teachers in order to develop their abilities to practice their administrative roles, which may increase their administrative participations in their schools.

Furthermore, the study recommended providing financial and moral support for the teachers who perform their administrative roles as promotions and certificates of honor to encourage them to continue doing such practices and encourage the other teachers to practice their administrative roles.
