Abstract EN

This paper aims to explain the Quranic connotation, discuss its main issues, and demonstrate its legitimacy to be taken as a sound evidence for scholars.

Both terms of connotation and significance are defined linguistically and technically as used in the Holy Quran.

This is followed by an explanation of the term “the significance of connotation”.

In a separate section, a number of related issues are discussed under the title of “issues on significance of connotation”.

This section discusses the significance of connotation as evidence or a proof which is taken for granted by majority of scholars.

The next part of the study provides an investigation of connotation in reference books, how scholars explained it and how errors are made by some scholars.

This part is concluded with a note on the difference between connotation and connotative explanation.

This part is followed by a study of the findings mentioned in the books of early Islamic scholars and jurists.

In this study, the researcher investigates all the different aspects of connotative significance.

The study is concluded with findings and recommendations.
