The linguistic duality that carved the Algerian literary works departing from the 20’S of the last century is mainly due to a set of historical, cultural and social factors caused chiefly by the colonial era.

Those factors altogether, took part in imposing the language of the colonizer as the solely one for literary creative writing while the indigenous people’s language was savagely repressed which leads us to wonder : how far can the linguistic factor take control over the identity of the literary text ?
