Abstract EN

The present study seeks to collect the scientific theses supervised by Prof.

Shaaban Abdel Aziz Khalifa in order to identify the numerical and qualitative features of them, and identify the features of the networks of scientific supervision of the professor.

A bibliographic and bibliometric approach was used.

The study used the Egyptian Universities Libraries Catalog in order to collect theses, the data collected during the period from 15/8/2019 to 20/8/2019.

The results of the study showed that there are 269 theses supervised by the professor.

The percentage of female was 59% while the percentage of male was 41%.

The theses supervised by the professor were approved from 12 Egyptian universities, Cairo University came first with 25% followed by Tanta University, Menoufia and Banha with 15%, 14% and 10% respectively.

The first academic theses approved for the professor was in 1986 from Cairo University, the period of time 2013 - 2015 witnessed the largest number of theses supervised by the professor, which amounted to 21%.

The number of researchers supervised by the professor reached 215 researchers, 52% of them received the master's degree only, while 25% obtained the master's and doctoral degrees, while the percentage of researchers who obtained the doctoral degree only under the supervision of the professor 23%.

The percentage of researchers coming from the Arab world was 12% of the total number of researchers supervised by the professor.

This percentage belongs to eight Arab countries, led by Syria and Libya.

Bilateral supervision is the dominant pattern of 73%, while the individual supervision pattern constituted only 27%.

The scientific supervision network of the professor consisted of 36 co-supervisors, led by Prof.

Tharwat Youssef El- Ghalban, Tanta University, followed by Prof.

Hasnaa Mahmoud Mahgoub, Menoufia University.

Information sources came in the top of the libraries and information science axes by 35%, information institutions came in the second place with 22%, followed by information technology by 20%, followed by information operations and information services by 12% and 11% respectively.
