حجم الإنفاق الحكومي الأمثل و النمو الاقتصادي في الجزائر خلال الفترة (1973- 2019)‎

Abstract EN

This study aims to investigate the efficiency of government expenditure in Algeria and what is the efficient limit of government expenditure during the period 1973-2019 by using the developed model of “SCULLY”, and through the econometric methodology which relies on the method of Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS) and the Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares method (FMOLS).

The study concluded a number of results, the most prominent are : The optimal size of expenditure as a percentage of GDP in Algeria is estimated at 29 % during the period of study, While the average of the period is 38 %, which is greater than the percentage of optimal government expenditure, this means that public spending in Algeria is in inefficient phase, so it does not contribute to improve economic growth rates.

The study recommended the need for a policy of rationalization of expenditures and the adoption of numerous economic policies differ than the increasing government spending to achieve economic growth.
