Abstract EN

The study is aimed to identify the life satisfaction and the existential anxiety for elderly persons, according to the variables of gender (male and female) and profession (retired, employee).

In addition, the study aimed to investigate the strength and the direction of the correlation between life satisfaction and existential anxiet Furthermore, the study aimed to identify the extent of the contribution of the life satisfaction factors (accept life and achievements, accept self, accept others).

Two hundred and fifty elderly were selected randomly to participate in this study.

Many statistics methods were used such as (one sample t-test, two ways Anova, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis).

The results showed that the elderly had a level of life satisfaction, while no existential anxiety was found.

In terms of the difference in life satisfaction and existential anxiety according to the profession and gender, the results showed that there was no statistically significant difference in life satisfaction according to profession.

However, the results have found that there is a significant difference in life satisfaction according to the gender; male showed a higher level of life satisfaction than female.

Whereas, no significant difference was found in existential anxiety according to gender.

Finally, the results found that there is a statistically significant inverse correlation between life satisfaction and existential anxiety among the elderly
