The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), in collaboration with a number of international institutions such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, has formulated 06 basic principles of good governance.

These principles have become the most internationally accepted standards in this area and are the basis for many corporate governance practices.

Algeria's interest in implementing corporate governance is reflected in the promulgation of the Charter of Good Governance for Algerian Enterprises on 11 March 2009.
