Abstract EN

This study aims at shedding light on one among the important colonial policies carried out by the French administration in Algeria; the settlement and the lands’ confiscation policy.

This latter was considered by the French administration as an effective solution to achieve a full control over Algeria, for military intervention alone deemed deficient.

The policy of settlement was apparent since early colonial years and was endorsed mainly by General Bugeaud.

This study tries to examine the settlement and the lands’ confiscation policy outside great Algerian cities, and our choice was Nedroma,.

It studies the French administrative plans which were to take hold of the lands of Nedroma and manage the city according to colonial aims.
