Abstract EN

The study aimed at investigating the Algerian writer Mariam Bou Doukha's View concerning polygamy in Islam.

The study used the critical-analysis methodology to investigate the targets in question.

To gather the required data, a review of literature was administered.

The study came to many conclusions as follows; first: the writer's belief that claims that Islam supports monogamy proved to be false; second, it is proved that Islam supports polygamy; third, the writer's view that Islam permits polygamy only for necessity proved to be false; fourth, no Scholar is reported to have stated that polygamy is disliked; fifth, the Scholars are reported to have stated that polygamy is advisable, sixth; polygamy is targeted not only to increase the population of muslims, but to protect men and women from adultery and deviation.

The study recommended that people should be immunised against the false belief that claims that Islam supports monogamy.
