Abstract EN

There are many social media methods (Viber, Whats app, Twitter, Face book, you tube) used by different segments and age groups in our Iraqi society.

Often the focus is on the advantages of these means, so this study aimed to find out the disadvantages of these methods in terms of misuse, especially by the youth segment, which leads to deviation from the valuable principles of society.

The unconscious and irresponsible use of social networking sites sign a person in a number of banned religious, moral, social and behavioral.

Excessive use of social media is a waste of time and effort, leading to family disintegration and neglect of personal and family duties.

It is noteworthy that prohibitions and legal prohibitions in social networking sites are not different from prohibitions and banned in society.

Thus, we can reach recommendations including that the family take its role in monitoring their children when they use these means and make them aware of the damages of excessive use.

We also cannot forget the role of educational and religious institutions in enlightening the legal prohibitions on the Internet in general and on social networking sites in particular.
