Ibrahem Department of Arabic Language Al Mustansiriya University / College of Education : nah_centre_research4@yahoo.com Abstract: Footnotes are considered as an important phenomenon in the lectures of grammar.

Al-Khudari's footnote is one of the most distinguished one other than its counterparts due to the prestigious and scientific status of its author.

Although these footnotes are specialized for the grammar lectures, Al-Khudari employed several sciences for dealing with the most important grammatical issues; among them is the science of jurisprudence therefore, the mental direction has clearly emerged in dealing with the grammatical issues by using the mental reasoning, and hence the mental direction has emerged as the result of the process of inference which both based on reason.

One of its evidence is the measurement system on which he worked in dealing with grammatical issues.

Therefore, the research has concentrated on the mental-grammatical direction in the footnote of Al-Khudari explained by Ibn Aqil.
