Abstract EN

The aim of current research is to determine existing situation (weak and power aspects) belong to programs of professional development in Yemen and to determine challenges and obstacles that face those programs.

To achieve the aim of study we approached the subject through several sides, that are: First: actual situation of teacher professional development programs that performed in the field in the case of statistics, content of training programs, advantages and disadvantages of these programs.

The researchers would accounted on statistics and literatures of Ministry of Education, and the meetings of training officials, and their observations from the field.

Second: Challenges and obstacles which face training and professional development programs in Yemen.

The research results reach that the situation of professional development programs in Yemen which prepared to the teachers in the Basic Education have many shortages, while teachers of the secondary education have no any programs except a few numbers of teachers specialized in Physics and Mathematics.

In addition, the meetings with officials in the training, control sector and trainers and teachers in the field found that the programs of professional development are faced many challenges that include the following: 1.

The joiners in such programs do not get any fiscal advantages.

2.

There are no regulations organizing the rights and duties of the trainers.

3.

There are no systems and broad training programs in the governorates
