Abstract EN

The problem of this study stemmed from the increment of marine reinsurance premium in the Sudanese insurance companies, whereas the study aimed to identify the extent of the technical capacity of the staff working at the insurance companies; as well as exploring reinsurance agreements in insurance companies and their direct impact on the size of the reinsured premiums.

The study adopted the descriptive analytical method, as the study relied on questionnaire to collect data from the study sample; in addition to the statistical analysis method to analyze the study data and test its hypotheses.

The study concluded that the lack of technical capacity of staff working at Sudanese insurance companies increase marine reinsurance premiums.

Moreover, the study confirmed that the choice and design of inappropriate marine reinsurance treaties resulted in more reinsurance premiums.

The study calls for increasing training courses for the staff working at technical departments; especially at reinsurance sections, and to revise marine reinsurance treaties, so as to apply excess of loss treaties instead of surplus ones.
