This study aims to highlight the economic factors affecting achieving the objectives of major construction project in the Sudan.

It is a case study of four large construction companies; Danfodio for Contracting, Roads and Bridges Company , Qasr Al-lulu International Company, Al Nasr Real Estates Co, and Al Mak Nimir for Development and Contracting Company.

The issue of the study was manifested in the deficiency of the basic managerial functions, non-utilization of the modern methods and techniques in the execution of projects, and lack of consideration of the surrounding economic environment.

The importance of the study comes from the paucity of researches and studies that tackle projects management, and hence it might be considered as a modest contribution to the enrichment of the Arabic library with studies in project management.

The study concludes to a number of findings and recommendations to enhance the performance of construction companies.

The study adopts the historical and the deductive methods, as well as case study and the descriptive-analytical methods.

The study uses statistical packages software for data analysis, using percentages, standards deviation and Chi square test.

The data were collected using a questionnaire form.

The study lays dawn five hypotheses and their validity was duly approved.

The most outstanding findings of the study were: 1.

Fluctuation of foreign currencies exchange rate increases the prices and consequently increases the cost of a project.

Control has to focus on project tenure and cost.

The most outstanding recommendations of the study were: 1.

High customs rates increase projects resources cost.

The importance of continuous control over all phases of the project.
