Abstract EN

This study deals with witness protection at the permanent and temporary (ad hoc) international criminal courts.

The witness is universally considered to be one the most instruments to ascertain the truth in criminal proceedings, the witnesses are the eyes and the ears of justice.

Truthfull witness testimony is a cornerstone of any criminal proceeding, which is designed to establish the fats of an alleged crime and the guilt or innocence of an accused person.

This study includes the objective intended by the witness, and the mechanisms to protect him from coercion.

On the procedural side, this study includes a statement of the witness's duties and the guarantees of witness protection for his testimony, in addition to the measures relating to the protection of the witness in international criminal court systems.
