The problem of building an Iraqi national identity, is no longer due to the nature of diversity that characterize the Iraqi society, But for other reasons, including a lack of awareness of what national identity is, and the absence of awareness and feeling in the individual mind as a result of the control of the collective mind of religious and the national and tribal on intellectual and social structure, which created a clear imbalance in them, which was directly reflected on the individual's thinking and society and their behavior, that contributed to the fragmentation of belonging and loyalty that impact on national political options.

The weakness of the intellectual and political maturity of the authorities that have followed the rule of Iraq since the emergence of its contemporary state, and their inability to create and build a national identity, and consolidating their sense of citizenship on the basis of active citizenship, beside the failure of those authorities to manage this file despite the diagnosis of the main reasons for the of national identity, which led to the strengthening of feeling and belonging to the subidentities.

The crises worsened after Iraq's invasion and occupation in 2003 and led to escalating violence and armed conflict, threating Iraq's security, stability and entity.
