The Israeli occupation, since the beginning of the occupation, has deliberately aimed to destroy the land as well as the man.

The occupation has used all kinds of suppression beginning by dredging and destroying the land, demolishing the houses, murdering, displacing, arresting as well as scaring children, women and innocent citizens.

The Israeli occupation has increased the number of prisons, where he threw thousands of Palestinians whom were tortured both physically and psychologically, moreover the occupation transformed them into a huge hollow, suffering from severe physical and psychological diseases, so as to insure their lack of affiliation to their homeland.

The Palestinian on the other hand, who has suffered from the psychological and physical diseases during his imprisonment has done his best to increase his level of Education, which was meant to be destroyed, by joining the universities and trying to be an active educated person just like his other Palestinian brothers.

Study Objectives: The current study aims to know the relationship between the level of anxiety and the academic achievement among the students (freed Prisoners) in Al Quds Open University.

This Study also aims to reveal the level of anxiety among the freed prisoners of the students in Al Quds Open University in relation to age, economic level and period of imprisonment.

As well as knowing the differences between the students (ex-prisoners and non prisoners) in Al Quds Open University concerning anxiety and academic achievement.

The Study Importance:  The importance of this study relies on its dealing with a very crucial and sensitive issue that was rarely mentioned before by researchers which makes the study a base for many researches to come.

 It is considered as one of the important issues which is related to an enormous category of the Palestinian people.

 It may present academic results to the Ministry of higher education, especially Al Quds Open University, concerning the freed prisoners.

 This study could be of crucial importance to several institutions such as: researchers, workers in the social services sector, workers in the prisoners’ affairs sector, workers in the higher education and students’ affairs coordinators in Al Quds Open University as well as other universities.

 The researcher also hopes that this study would also be of a great help for the freed prisoners themselves in decreasing their anxiety level and improving the academic achievement.

The Study Method: The researcher used the descriptive analytical method in which he tries to describe the study in hand, analyze its data, and show the relationships between its parts, the opinions that are related to the subject, the processes included in it and its related impacts.

The Study Sample: The study was executed on 346 student divided equally to 173 ex-prisoners and 173 non-prisoners in Al Quds open university.

The sample was chosen by the Random intentional method.

The Study Tools: The researcher used an anxiety level criterion (measurement) prepared by the researcher which contained 49 paragraphs distributed on five sections.

The criterion stability and truthfulness was tested on the study sample.

The statistical methods: The following statistical methods were used: The frequency, the percentage, the mathematical average, standard deviations.

Person’s correlation coefficient, Unidifferential analysis and tests and Shafye’s test.

Study Results:  The freed prisoners suffer all kinds of anxiety which is put in order as follows:-The economic anxiety, the security anxiety, the future anxiety, the social anxiety, and the test anxiety.

 The academic achievement level declines among the free prisoners and is measured to be among “average students”.

 The free – prisoners suffer from a higher level of anxiety and a lesser academic achievement than their non-prisoner colleagues.

 It was clearly evident that the level of anxiety among prisoners increases in relation to the period of imprisonment.

The anxiety level was 11 + years.

It also was evident that the more the period of imprisonment is the higher the anxiety.

 It was also evident that Anxiety level increases in relation to the prisoners’ age.

Anxiety level was higher among 36+ years’ old freed – prisoners.

 It was also evident that the anxiety level increases in relation to the decrease in the economic situation.
