As a result of the success the Total Quality Management system in industrials and services organizations in the world.

The attention to the application of TQM approach in hospitals increased, but can the hospitals follow the same path taken by industrial and service institutions to satisfy the customer (patient)? Through a descriptive analytical approach, This paper reviews the concept of Total Quality Management and the basic principles that revolves this concept, and describes the importance of medical services through the application of total quality management system.

The paper presents a model of Jordan University Hospital in the application of Quality Management system, the paper also proposes an action plan to develop and implement this system in Algerian hospitals.

The paper concludes with some recommendations for continuous improvement in the health field at various levels.
