Abstract EN

This study amid to recognize that if there is any possibility to combat of unemployment via economic growth by using Okun’s Law, during 1996- 2018.

Therefore, this study adopted on ZivotAndrews testes to find out whether there is a break point structure among the study model or not, and also it has been used co-integration approach via thresholds method of Gregory- Hansen to estimated a relationship in long run into three approaches as follows: Fully Modified Least Squares (FMOLS), Dynamic Least Squares (DOLS), & Canonical Co-integrating Regression (CCR).

In additional, this study found out that there is a break point structure in 2002.

Furthermore, there is equilibrium point among the variables in long run, and that confirm a relationship between unemployment rate and economic growth, so unemployment rate response to economic growth in Libya as assumed by Okin in his law, and also that confirmed by Dynamic Least Squares approach, but this result going in opposite way as assumed by Okun’s law.
