Abstract EN

Objectives of the Study: The present study aimed at developing functional written expression skills among Primary School Pupils.

It also aimed at identifying the effectiveness of the writing process approach in developing these skills .

Participants of the Study: A group of sixth primary school pupils (n= 40) selected from Al-Kubra Primary School (Boys & Girls), AlQusiya- Assiut Governorate Educational Administration.

The study followed the semi-empirical design of one group.

Procedures of the Study: A theoretical framework has been developed for using the writing process approach in developing functional written expression skills Instruments of the study were: (1) A List of Functional Written Expression Skills that includes (35) skills.

2) A test of functional written expression skills,( 3) Writing Rubric, Activities, worksheets as well as a teacher’s guide were used.

Administering these instruments and materials, and then using the suitable statistical methods, results of the study were revealed : Results of the Study 1- The effectiveness of using the writing process approach in developing primary school pupils’ functional written expression skills.

This was indicated by the results of pre – post functional written expression skills tes There was a statistical significant difference at the level of (0.01) in favor of the post application.

The study recommended using the writing process approach in teaching writing for different learners’ levels.

More attention should be given to developing functional written expression skills.

Suggestions for further research were given
