Abstract EN

This study is analysing the concept of civil society، in general، and in Algeria in particular، by looking at its emergence and evolution، & its role in the democratic process، which can be seen in its role in the political socialization، & in the political participation، in addition to its relation with the political regime in Algeria.

The study also analyses the difficulties & the obstacles that are confronting the civil society in Algeria.

Finally, the study presents these means which can help the civil society in Algeria to be more effective and dynamic in playing its role properly.

The importance of this study arises from the fact that it is treating an important subject which is linked to the success of democracy, that is the role of civil society in Algeria in this process.

But unfortunately، this civil society is facing many difficulties and obstacles which prevent it from playing its role.

As a result the study concludes that in order that the civil society in Algeria plays this role perfectly، some necessary conditions: socio- cultural, economic، & politico- legislative، have to be achieved.
