This article seeks to examine the experience of the Algerian critic (Abdul Malik Mourtad) through his book (Theory of Reading), which dealt with several critical issues, in which he sought to establish and rooting a theory in reading the literary text in modern Algerian criticism.

On what basis did " Abdul Malik Mourtad " establish his theory of reading the literary text? What is the critical direction on which he based his theory? Is it related to the author's intent, the linguistic format of the text, or the criticism of the reader? Is it biased towards Arab or Western criticism ?
