Abstract EN

This article aims to answer the following main question: how do the reforms adopted by the Algerian state contribute to achieving the financial balance of the Algerian pension system and its implications for the economic and social situation? the pension system has been affected by the social and demographic situation, such as the high life expectancy at birth and the deterioration of the fertility rate, adding to the economic situation represented by the imbalance of the national pension fund because of the increase in expenditures and the decrease in the number of participants, the imbalance between the number of retirees and the number of participants, the level of investment and the decline in oil revenues, which led to further reforms under of law 16-15, which came into force in January 2017, particularly with regard to the abolition of early retirement schemes.

one of the most important recommendations of the study is to rethink the pension system in consultation with all partners, to introduce comprehensive and far-reaching reforms that affect the essence of the system and to self-finance to continue to fulfill its obligations to participants and improve the status of retirees.
