Abstract EN

This study deals with an essential aspect of the Islamic intellectual heritage using a historical and analytical approach; it takes into consideration the science of comparative religions, regarding its nature, definition, and the most significant obstacles to its renewal and development.

The study includes two topics.

The first topic deals with the history of science (comparative religions) in Islamic ideology, concerning the concept, emergence, the motives of Muslims interest in it, and its importance among Islamic sciences.

As for the second topic, it investigates some of the obstacles to the desired renewal in the science of comparative religions including the ence of objectivity in the study of religions, ignorance among scholars, in the Islamic world.
