This research is concerned with collecting, documenting and studying fish names in the tongue of Arby Ibn Manzur, and it is based on the following questions:
1-Are linguistic phenomena mentioned by Ibn Manzoor in his lexicon?
2-Did Ibn Manzoor behave in defining the fish's names other than what was stated in its reliable origins?
3-Did Ibn Manzoor add names of fish that did not appear in his reliable origins?
4-Are some roots devoid of linguistic words in Ibn Manzoor?
5- Did Ibn Manzoor neglect any of the roots in his origins related to fish names?
The researcher collected the words of fish mentioned in the tongue of the Ar, documented them from the sources - as much as possible - and studied them linguistically in terms of semantic, phonetic and morphological issues.
