Abstract EN

The research aims at clarifying the technical foundations of Scattered Years through the techniques of modern critical narrative via establishing the narrative structure as a critical compound to clarify the technique of this novel and studying the major constitutive rules which control its structure: The narrative structure of character represented by the characters of Naji and Dafany which both constitute two essential components of modern narrative through the generative narrative emerged from the main structure of Naji's character.

The structure of narrative time in Scattered Years constitutes the main component of narrative structure.

The narrative event rotates with time wherever it goes.

Time analepsis within the circular scale of time constitutes an essential axis in the novel.

This goes in harmony with the title of the novel Scattered Years.

The chronotope goes in harmony with the variant analepses in accordance with the number of characters and its diversity therefore time fragments according to characters' mental status which is based on their mental ability to remember.

Place structure in Scattered Years has a dominant presence for it has a link with the event emerged from the title Scattered Years.

What controls the place construction is the oscillation between opening and closure which goes in harmony with the main entry, the title of the novel, according to chronotope components which indicate the fragmentation of places due to its time fragmentation the narrator employed to suit the novel's aspects and the psychological state of characters.
