This transition did not take place all of a sudden, it was preceded by many changes through which Andalusia went since 500 A.

H at various levels; our subject comprises the preludes of change on the political side, and we shall be focusing in our research specifically on the role of judges in that change, firstly, being men of jurisprudence representing the religious authority, and secondly, occupying administrative posts representing the political authority under which they act.

In the late period of Moravids' rule, Andalusia witnessed the revolution of some of its judges against the rule of Muravids, in fact, they announced themselves political rulers in the cities in which they were their judges, and in later step they aspired to extend their power to other cities, and this raises an important question: what is the role of representatives of religious authority at the advent of changes of power or in case of political vacuum? This is what we shall attempt to answer basing on what some of Andalusia's judges did during the transition from Moravids era to Mohads' after exploring the reasons and means that motivated them, then observing their staying in power and the things they achieved, having in mind that what those judges did has nothing alike in the whole history of Andalusia and Morocco in the Islamic eras.
