Abstract EN

This study entitled with: (The Trade of Frankincense in Hadhramout in the Era Before Islam).

This study discussed the Hadhrami frankincense as a trade and it’s tremendous economic factor as well as its role in the past.

This research contains a preface and four chapters.

The first chapter is entitled "Qana Port and the Frankincense a Trade in Ancient Times" I discussed the role of Qana Port in the trade of frankincense in the past.

The second chapter is entitled "Frankincense Homeland" it talked about Dhafar at the eastern part of Hadhramout, it also discussed the frankincense tree in which frankincense grow in, and the exporting seaport that frankincense was exported; "Samharm Seaport".

The third chapter is entitled "The Frankincense Route" It is about the route the frankincense passed in its journey from Dhafar "by land" to the Hadhrami Capital "Shabowa" and from it to the capitals of the Southern Arabian Kingdoms, the route that the frankincense passes until its last internal station in the Capital of Maeen "Qarnow".

Then the route it passed through until it reaches the Mediterranean cities.

The fourth chapter is entitled "The Importance of the Frankincense in the Past" It discussed the usage of the frankincense at the Mediterranean cities, especially in Europe and the importance of the frankincense at the religious ceremonies in the first place.

Later I discussed the ways they dealt with in buying and selling and the reasons of the weakness of the trade of the frankincense in the period after the second century AD.

At the epilogue I discussed the economic role for the merchandise of the frankincense in the Hadhrami economy in particular and the Southern Arabian Kingdoms in general.
