This study investigates aspects of meaning in Hazem Al-Gertajenni's Book Rhetoricians' Methods and the Lantern of Men of letters.

Though this book aims at studying the themes and composition of poetry, it also tackles aspects of meaning in a way similar to that of semanticists rather than rhetoricians' .

The results of this study show how Al-Gertajenni's semantic views agree with the views of semanticists and oppose those of rhetoricians.'
