عرف الرق منذ أقدم العصور و كانت الحروب و الشراء و الهدايا المصادر الأساسية لجلب الرقيق و من ضمنهم الجواري تناول البحث اهتمام السلاطين و الأمراء في العصرين الأيوبي و المملوكي باقتناء الجواري لدرجة التنافس فيما بينهم و التفاخر للاحتفاظ بالأفضل و الأجمل ولاسيما حينما تكون الجواري من المتميزات في شكلهن أو امتلاكهن لخواص متميزة مثل الصوت الرخيم كما تعامل السلاطين و الأمراء باهتمام و لطف معهن فأصبحن أمهات لأولادهم و أصبح لهن من الحضوة و النفوذ و الطلب المسموع خارج القصور حيث الحياة العامة.
Abstract EN
Slavery was known from ancient times.
Wars, bargaining, and gifts used to be major sources for bringing slaves including bondswomen.
The research deals with the concern of Sultans and Emirs during the Ayyubid and Mamluk eras, especially with the possession of bondswomen to the extent that they competed with each other as this is regarded part of their pride.
This, in fact, is done so as to keep that which is best, especially when such bondswomen were regarded as exceptional in their figures or for their unique qualities, such as melodious voices.
However, the Sultans and Emirs treated them with kindness and atmost interest to the extent that they became mothers of their sons.
Therefore, they enjoyed high prestige and position out of the royal palaces, that is (in public life)
